Billionaire Fund Manager Shifts $1.26 Billion from Nvidia and Amazon to Microsoft
Viking Global Investors, led by billionaire Ole Andreas Halvorsen, made significant portfolio adjustments in Q3 2025. The $39 billion fund liquidated all positions in Nvidia and Amazon, eliminating billions in holdings. Nvidia shares totaling 3,681,935 and Amazon's 3,897,092 shares were completely divested.
The fund redirected capital into Microsoft, acquiring 2.4 million shares worth $1.26 billion. This position now represents 3.2% of Viking's assets, becoming its fifth-largest holding. Microsoft's recent earnings showed strength with $4.14 per share on $81.3 billion revenue, though shares dipped 6.8% post-announcement.
Azure cloud growth moderated to 39% year-over-year, with guidance suggesting further deceleration to 37-38%. Microsoft's aggressive AI investments are evident in its record $37.5 billion capital expenditures, marking a 66% annual increase. Two-thirds of this spending targets AI computing infrastructure.
